'Operation Opu' was created to honor the very first dog that we started helping, back in 2003. On February 4th, 2010 Opu passed away. He was an old dog on the exterior but all puppy at heart! We miss him dearly.
Opu REALLY enjoyed his toys. Even in his geriatric years, when he was given a bone or toy, he would perk up then he would prance off to enjoy his bounty.
The main program of Operation Opu is a bi-annual toy drive, kicking off on June 1st and ending on August 1st. We will be collecting dog toys and bones for all of the houseless dogs that we assist. Most of the dogs never get toys, unless we bring some to them. A toy in the life of a houseless dog brings them happiness. It is evident by the way they get excited at the sight of a toy being given to them. On a couple of our posted videos, you can see how much joy a simple toy brings. They frolic and cannot stop wagging their tail! THIS is what Operation Opu is all about...brightening their lives! Even just that simple gesture makes a big difference to them.
If you would like to gift a dog toy for a houseless dog, starting every June 1st, we will have collection bins stationed at The Animal House Vet in Ewa, 55 Pawsh Place in Kapolei and Eastside Feed and Pet Supply in Kaneohe. You could also drop the toys off at any of our booth locations. Feel free to check our calendar for upcoming events. If you have a bunch of dog toys for the K9 Kokua dogs and cannot get to a location to drop it off, we will be happy to pick them up! Just send an email to: email@example.com.
